Coblation Surgeries

What is Coblation?

Coblation is an advanced technology that combines gentle radiofrequency energy with natural saline to quickly, and safely perform a variety of procedures.  Information on each procedure is listed below with links for more information.

Coblation has been used in nearly 3 million procedures by ENT physicians.  Dr Allen has himself performed over 1,000 Coblation procedures on his patients since 2003.
Coblation Tonsillectomy

Unlike traditional tonsillectomy procedures, which remove the tonsils by burning, Coblation uses gentle radiofrequency energy with natural saline.  This leaves the healthy tissues surrounding the tonsils intact with minimal damage.

Clinical studies have proven the safety of Coblation as well as a marked reduction in pain and complications after surgery.

Coblation for snoring

Over 100 million people snore.  For most, the condition is more annoying than dangerous.  However, it can be a sign of a more serious condition called obstructive sleep apnea.

A complete exam by a doctor can help differentiate these two conditions.  Many devices and procedures have been tried to treat both snoring and sleep apnea.   Many with little long term relief and often significant discomfort.

Coblation of the soft palate is a safe, simple, and effective procedure which can be performed in the office to help with snoring.

Coblation for stuffy nose

Blocked nasal passages force you to breath through your mouth, making everyday activities such as eating, speaking, and sleeping more difficult.

Medicines such as decongestants and steroids can offer only temporary relief.  And surgical alternatives can seem extreme.

Coblation is a fast, effective, and continued relief for chronic nasal congestion by shrinking excess tissue inside the nose.

Coblation of the turbinates can be performed along with other surgical procedures or can safely and comfortably be performed in the office with little down time.
